The Latest #Swordgate Poster

1/27/2016

Peter Geuzen has produced an updated version (3.0) of the #Swordgate poster that includes all twelve of the known Fake Hercules Swords. Perhaps the mystery will be solved with the thirteenth sword is found . . . cue the dramatic music.

I hope to find time soon to update the Fake Hercules Sword database and update the Argumentative Archaeologist pages with the latest posts on the sword, the "crossbow bolts," and the Harold Stone. I'll probably create "Oak Island" and "Roman Scotia" pages there to organize all the information. I'm also going to create a distinct area on this website to organize posts about the various swords - there's a lot of information about them now and I can make it easier to find. I've got a lot to do today and probably won't be able to squeeze all of that in, but it's coming.

Need I say more?

I'm sticking to my belief that the stone says: Far Out Waldo. J. Hutton Pulitzer is about to answer the question, Where's Waldo?

King Harold takes a "Roman crossbow bolt" to the dome-he was actually a tree on Oak Island.

What's left to debunk? We should tackle the 'artificial pond' next. A few years ago I looked at the location of the triangle and thought that it looked like it had formed naturally, given the contour of the island and its location in relation to wave direction and sediment buildup. So I started looking for more ponds, swamps, etc. with similar characteristics on other islands and along the shoreline. It didn't take very long to find another one, on Birch Island (due east of Oak Island). And there are several others. #Pondgate, anyone?

Everyone knows that the 13th sword will unlock the secret time portal gate that will unleash legions of Roman soldiers upon the eastern coast of North America.

If so, repeat after me...

Ave, Caesar!

uh... unless they look more like gladiators, in which case try, "Morituri te salutant"

I believe for the portal to open, all of the swords have to be brought together in an as yet unknown location. It's like the Crystal Skulls. Maybe the Harold or Waldo stone indicates where to gather the 13 swords. The one person to gather all of the swords will be granted an army of ghostly Roman Legionaires, similar to the Dead Men of Dunharrow from Lord of the Rings.

“Zinc is used to make many useful alloys. Brass, an alloy of zinc that contains between 55% and 95% copper, is probably the best-known zinc alloy. Brass was first used about 2,500 years ago and was widely used by the ancient Romans, who used it to make such things as coins, kettles and decorative items.”

Absolutely nowhere in this quote and absolutely nowhere in the linked page does it correlate the percent zinc to the zinc content in brass specifically in Roman times. I guess he couldn't read or understand any of Dr. Bs references and since Google is the only education he seems to have, we really shouldn't expect anything better. Good enough for the clapping seals as well, I suppose.

"The majority of Roman fresh cementation brasses, unadulterated with scrap bronze, seem to contain about 20% of zinc..."

From JHPs favourite source:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brass#Brass_making_in_the_Roman_World

“Brass made during the early Roman period seems to have varied between 20% to 28% wt zinc. The high content of zinc in coinage and brass objects DECLINED [emphasis added] after the first century AD and it has been suggested that this reflects zinc loss during recycling and thus an interruption in the production of new brass.”

Craddock, P.T. and Eckstein, K (2003) "Production of Brass in Antiquity by Direct Reduction" in Craddock, P.T. and Lang, J. (eds) Mining and Metal Production Through the Ages London: British Museum pp. 226–7

...and next

“By the 1st century BC the Romans were using the cementation process for producing brass. Initially it seems to have been used for coinage, but rapidly became popular in other fields, especially decorative metalwork where it largely replaced bronze. During the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD the zinc content of the coinage FELL [emphasis added], and brasses with a high zinc content ceased to be used, although brass continued to be as popular as ever accounting for about 30% of Roman copper alloys. By the 3rd century an alloy of copper with a FEW PER CENT [emphasis added] each of lead, ZINC [emphasis added] and tin (modern “leaded gunmetal”) was in regular use, and has remained so ever since.

In other words, a max 20-28% zinc pre-BC with a decline to a few % by early AD – exactly the period JHP thinks his Roman boat crashed into Oak Island and dropped the magical navigation sword they used to get there into a scallop bed in a bay with no scallops to then be miraculously resurrected a couple thousand years later at the exact moment in time he arrived at the island for a photo op. Nope and Nope.

This calls for a da Vinci code conspiracy style book and subsequent movie. Call Dan Brown and Tom Hanks.
